Loss

March 8, 2025
Beautiful day.

Feeling nothing but optimistic and hopeful for the first time in weeks. Preparing for family gathering in Watertown to celebrate Cindy’s life has motivated me to “get organized.”

A goal I set for myself 23 years ago when I retired was to clean every drawer and closet and remove everything not used.

It’s been like a walk down memory lane, and I find myself surrounded by gifts from Cindy. She has been a part of my life from my earliest memory. Nobody would have made it through child-rearing years without the daily conversations with long telephone cord stretching through the house as we tended to our children and prepared three-course meals after teaching school all day and delivering children to lessons and practices.

How did we do it? I think we may have been a little competitive or never could have pulled it off. We were both trying to keep up with Mom—our superhero.

I miss both of them so much it paralyzes me with the loss.
