I am a writer, a retired teacher, a wife, a mother of four, and a grandmother of ten. For thirty-six years, I taught young children and worked with teachers and families, always believing that childhood should be a journey, not a race.
Now I am gathering the stories of a lifetime—letters, journals, photographs, memories, and the moments that might otherwise be forgotten. This blog is where I share some of those stories.
I have always had what my mother called a “junk drawer memory”—one memory opening into another, with stories tucked away in unexpected places. Those memories have become the heart of my writing.
One of the stories closest to my heart is I Met a Man, a collection of stories about my husband, Bill. I am preserving his stories—his voice, his humor, and his wisdom—so that our children and grandchildren will always have them.
This blog is a place for all of it: family stories, memories of childhood, reflections from my years as a teacher, and the ordinary moments that become extraordinary when we take the time to remember them.
